Attendre et espérer — Reflections on 2025

2025 was a year of depth rather than display.

I read widely, completing 83 books, many of them classics, and found in literature a steady companion through a demanding year. Work was intense, marked by changes, growing responsibilities, and first direct engagements with Japanese clients. Alongside this, I continued learning through Preply lessons, blogging, online courses, and completing the IESC international etiquette exam.

The year was not without emotional difficulty, especially in relationships, but that period became a turning point that helped me return to myself with clearer boundaries and quieter confidence. Beyond my own life, the passing of Pope Francis, the conclave to choose a new Pope, and the Jubilee of Hope placed the year within a wider spiritual horizon.

I end 2025 grateful, more grounded, and mindful of attendre et espérer — waiting and hoping without haste. As I look toward 2026, I hope to take on The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas — not as a goal, but as a continuation of learning to wait and to hope.

2025年は、外に見せる年ではなく、内面を深める年でした。
一年を通して幅広く読書をし、古典を中心に 83冊 を読みました。読書は、変化と忙しさの中で心を落ち着かせてくれる伴走者でした。仕事では変化が多く、責任も増し、日本のお客様と直接お会いし、会食を共にする機会も初めて経験しました。その一方で、Preplyでの学習、ブログ執筆、オンライン講座、そしてIESC国際エチケット資格の取得など、学びを継続しました。

人間関係を含め、感情的に難しい時期もありましたが、その経験は自分自身を見つめ直す転機となり、より明確な境界と静かな自信を取り戻すきっかけとなりました。教皇フランシスコの逝去、新教皇選出のためのコンクラーベ、そして「希望の聖年」は、この一年をより大きな霊的文脈の中に位置づけてくれました。

2025年を終えるにあたり、私は感謝とともに attendre et espérer ―― 待ち、そして希望を抱くことの大切さを心に刻んでいます。2026年に向けては、目標としてではなく、「待つこと、希望すること」を学び続ける延長として、アレクサンドル・デュマの『モンテ・クリスト伯』という大きな古典に取り組んでいきたいと考えています。

2025 年不是張揚的一年，而是向內扎根的一年。
這一年，我廣泛閱讀，共完成 83 本書，其中多為經典文學。閱讀成為我在忙碌與變動之中安定心神的重要陪伴。工作方面變化頻繁、責任加重，也首次與日本客戶面對面交流，並共進餐敘。同時，我持續投入學習，包括 Preply 課程、部落格寫作、線上課程，以及完成 IESC 國際禮儀認證。

這一年在情感與人際關係上並非一帆風順，但那段困難時期成為我重新認識自我、建立更清楚界線與沉靜自信的轉捩點。教宗方濟各的辭世、新教宗選舉的秘密會議，以及「希望禧年」，也讓這一年被置於更宏觀而深遠的靈性視野中。

回顧 2025，我心存感恩，也學會了 attendre et espérer —— 在不急於前行中，耐心等待並懷抱希望。展望 2026，我希望能著手閱讀亞歷山大・仲馬的《基督山恩仇記》，不是作為一個目標，而是作為持續學習等待與盼望的一部分。
